Bone Mineral Density Characteristics of Paraplegic Patients Wearing Paraplegic Walking Apparatus

نویسندگان

چکیده

In order to observe and compare the changes of bone mineral density (BMD) paraplegic patients before after wearing walking device, as well influence age, height, weight years on BMD, 124 were tested by quantitative CT (QCT) in Sichuan Rehabilitation Hospital (Sichuan Bayi Center). The results showed that walkers had higher than those not walkers. BMD decreased with but significantly non-paraplegic Height little effect only younger 20 old or 31-45 significant (P<0.01). Body positively correlated BMD. Conclusions: was different from (P<0.01), walker can increase stress stimulation bone, effectively reduce loss minerals patients, maintain a relatively normal range.

Developmental research in paraplegic walking.

An injured London policeman's fight to stand and walk again, despite the handicap ofcomplete paraplegia at thoracic level from a gunshot wound, captured the public imagination last year. British journalists hailed as an important breakthrough his treatment-firstly, with an electrical stimulation system (functional electrical stimulation) for the paralysed lower limb musculature, then using a sp...

Kinematic modeling of four-point walking patterns in paraplegic subjects

We present a kinematic model of a paraplegic subject walking with crutches where the subject with the crutches is modeled as a parallel kinematic structure. The model is employed to investigate if certain quadrupedal gait patterns can be implemented with functional electrical stimulation. The study is motivated by the fact that the existing crutch-assisted gait realized by the electrical stimul...

Performance improvement of walker-assisted FES-supported paraplegic walking

In this paper we present a method to generate optimal stimulation pattern for walker-assisted paraplegic walking using FES systems. To determine the stimulation patterns, a musculoskeletal model of walker-assisted FES-supported paraplegic walking is introduced. The optimal stimulation patterns are determined through minimizing the trajectory tracking error of the lower body and mechanical energ...

Anxiety and depression symptoms among paraplegic patients.

omplete paraplegia is defined as lower limb paralysis with loss of sensation. It is usually associated with loss of sphincter control both for bowel and bladder. Various medical and surgical causes may lead to complete paraplegia. Traumatic spinal cord injury (SCI) is one major cause. Paraplegic patients suffer from several problems due to the nature of their injury such as physical impairment,...
